The Bicycle Coalition is looking for an eloquent and creative communicator to bring focus to the many ways we communicate about our varied programs. Our goal is to effectively market our mission of making bicycling better through advocacy and education to the public and membership to bicyclists. In particular, we are launching communications plans for two programs this year: the Complete the Schuylkill River Trail Campaign/TIGER and Safe Routes Philly.

The Communications Coordinator will:
• Coordinate the Bicycle Coalition’s communications plan
• Implement the communications plan for the Complete the Schuylkill River Trail Campaign and manage http://completethetrail.org
• Manage http://saferoutesphilly.org and plan and implement a public relations campaign for Safe Routes Philly
• Manage the Bicycle Coalition’s monthly newsletter
• Coordinate all press activity
• Coordinate the Bicycle Coalition’s blog

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
• A strong commitment to the Bicycle Coalition’s mission
• Two or more years experience in journalism, public relations or web publishing
• Ability to communicate effectively with people of all ages, abilities, cultural groups, economic status or sexual orientation
• A professional appearance and manner
• Ability to write and speak in a professional, friendly and accurate manner
• Ability to complete work in an unstructured and informal environment with limited supervision
• Problem solving skills, creativity, flexibility and self-motivation
• Experience with Microsoft Office

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience bicycling in Southeastern Pennsylvania and South Jersey
• Experience producing newsletter content for a membership organization
• Experience with online content programs, such as WordPress, Drupal and Blogger
• Experience with online giving and an understanding of how online content and communications drive fundraising results
