Communications and New Media Coordinator, Fight for Philly

Purpose:

Manage communications and new media for coalition-based campaign for good jobs and corporate accountability. Develop and coordinate strategy and message among local unions and community coalition allies.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Creates and implements a strategic communications plan
Manages media relations
Identifies and develops spokespeople for public speaking
Writes campaign talking points, speeches, press materials
Develops campaign literature including fliers, petitions, postcards, brochures, and backgrounders
Develop and implement a robust new media and online activism program, including website content, email list development, e-mail, social media platforms and texting
Manages campaign event communications, including strategy, message, location, signage, visuals, materials, media outreach, spokesperson prep, event flow and agenda
Photograph and video tape events for communications materials
Oversee department associate and intern
Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Must have demonstrated ability to manage own work and work of others without supervision
Requires a high level of judgment and ability to take initiative and work independently
Must maintain a high level of confidentiality
Must be able to act and organize time with extreme independence
Must be able to handle multiple priority projects simultaneously and set and meet deadlines, and ensure that staff team does the same
Must be able to work long and irregular hours
Must have a strong commitment to social and economic justice
