Project H.O.M.E. is a rapidly growing, independent nonprofit agency in Philadelphia with a mission to empower persons to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty, to address structural causes of poverty, and to enable all of us to attain our fullest potential as individuals and as members of the broader society. Since 1995 and through the Philadelphia Plan, Project H.O.M.E. has been working in partnership with neighborhood residents, corporations, foundations, government, faith communities and others to revitalize the St. Elizabeth?s/Diamond Street section of North Philadelphia. Efforts include affordable housing development, greening of vacant lots, adult and youth enrichment and education programs, and community-based health care services.

Commercial Economic Developer
Project H.O.M.E. collaborated with local business owners in 2001 to develop a community economic development plan?Ridge Avenue on the Rebound: A 5-Year Action Plan. The Plan identifies specific actions that are being implemented by three committees: Physical Improvements, Marketing, and Quality of Life. The Commercial Economic Developer will be responsible for, but not limited to, providing technical assistance to these three committees and to the Cecil B. Moore/Ridge Avenue Business Association, the identification and implementation of commercial development projects along Ridge Avenue, budgeting, and reporting. Candidates must have a B.A. or B.S. degree, a minimum of two (2) years experience, working or volunteering in the community and economic development field, which promotes the revitalization efforts in neighborhoods, direct experience working in low-income and urban communities, experience in the application of local, state, and federal legislation and regulations as they pertain to development and service activities, be a visionary thinker, who is innovative, and values working collaboratively with all staff and residents in the neighborhood be extremely organized, an independent worker and thinker, and have demonstrated knowledge and experience with community development and services and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong computer skills are required (Microsoft Office applications, WORD, Excel, etc.).
