The Office of Learning Resources at Saint Joseph’s University is seeking a part-time College Transition Coach as we expand our successful coaching program. This position entails working weekly one-on-one with a set group of first year students as they navigate the transition to college. Collaboratively, the coach and student design an individualized plan to help the student get and stay organized, manage their time and assignments, and navigate the social and personal transition successfully. We are seeking someone for 16-22 in-person hours weekly during normal business hours.
Primary responsibilities of this position include providing students with specific success strategies to promote independent learning, assisting students in developing skills to prioritize commitments, and implementing general time management strategies to meet collegiate demands. The coach will foster a mentor/mentee relationship to provide individualized feedback to students in order to facilitate improvement, enhance performance in study habits, and raise awareness of skills needed to transition successfully to college.
In addition, the coach will assess students’ needs, will develop an individualized learning plan for success, will monitor academic performance, will track students’ progress, will provide feedback to each assigned student, and will keep the Lead Coach updated on students’ progress for more information or to apply.
