About PYN: The Philadelphia Youth Network (PYN) is a nationally-recognized intermediary organization dedicated to improving the economic and education outcomes of Philadelphia’s youth. PYN organizes its work around five core functions: leveraging, coordinating and managing public and private investment directed at youth education and workforce development in the Philadelphia region; convening and leading cross-sector partnerships and initiatives that enhance opportunities available to Philadelphia youth; designing, overseeing and replicating program models that prepare Philadelphia youth for education and the workforce; managing a service-delivery system created to ensure citywide coordination of youth career-connected educational services; building the capacity of youth-serving providers. The services that fall within the initiatives managed by PYN focus particularly on youth that live in poverty, have dropped out, or are at risk of dropping out of school and/or are involved with public care systems.
Position Description: The College Readiness Coordinator assists with all activities associated with managing college readiness efforts across the School District of Philadelphia and aligning such efforts with the priorities of Action Plan 2.0. The College Readiness Coordinator will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of a district-wide plan for college readiness while also ensuring that all activities currently being conducted within the District are properly supported and aligned with the districts goals. The College Readiness Coordinator will also be responsible for coordinating and reporting on external partners around services relating to college readiness.
Essential Functions:
- Works as key team member through the School District’s Office of Academic Support and will serve as the resident expert on college readiness activities for the District
- Partners with universities and other academic entities to assist in supporting college readiness in the District; being a liaison between those potential higher education partners and district schools
- Works on ensuring that all 48 high schools in the district have services that relate to college readiness
- Coordinates services that relate to college readiness and assisting and utilizing all available resources to implement college readiness services across the City
- Creates a suggested system of college readiness within the City during the first 3 months of job appointment
- Builds relationships with external partners in an effort to create a strong network of college readiness providers
- Responds to schools and providers to assist with any college readiness coordinating and program implementation
- Identifies and supports providers by setting up specific District led professional development opportunities for providers
- Participates in collaborative cross-sector communities that advance the issue of college readiness across the City
- Development of monthly quantitative and qualitative reports documenting coordinating activities and the status of college readiness programs within the District
- Other duties as assigned
