CNCS to launch National Veterans Corps
Posted by Corporation for National and Community Service on October 5, 2015
Since the 2009 Serve America Act, we have prioritized both expanded service to veterans and military families, and increased engagement of veterans themselves. To build on these efforts, we will establish the National Veteran Corps on Veterans Day 2015.
As CEO Wendy Spencer outlined at recent AmeriCorps and Senior Corps convenings, this initiative will honor and recognize AmeriCorps members and Senior Corps volunteers who are military veterans, as well as those who serve veterans and their families.
As we establish the National Veteran Corps, we will conduct nationwide Veteran Corps pinning ceremonies. At these ceremonies, honorees will receive a specially designed Veteran Corps pin. These pins honor veterans who have continued to serve in their communities after leaving the military, as well as volunteers and members who serve with organizations that provide services and support for veterans and their families.
Please join us in this effort by planning a ceremony of your own on or around Veterans Day (November 11, 2015).
For more information about the National Veteran Corps and how to plan a ceremony, please visit the National Veteran Corps web page. You can order pins (free-of-charge), and we will soon share a toolkit for planning your events.

Please register your event — and place your pin order — no later than October 23.

We look forward to this important day and establishing Veteran Corps to honor our members and volunteers.
