PROGRAM COORDINATOR I
Reports to the Director of Civic Engagement. Is responsible for education outreach and facilitates collaborations between the Office of Civic Engagement and Camden schools, with a focus on the three public schools in the North Camden neighborhood. Enables Rutgers personnel and school personnel to collaborate productively by making mutually agreeable arrangements for programs that support school-time learning, create after-school opportunities for K-12 students, and serve parents and other adults connected with the schools. Serves as the liaison with various public and private institutions and agencies and provides staff support to the Community Advisory Board for Rutgers’ North Camden schools partnership. Oversees Rutgers after-school programs in the North Camden schools. Creates surveys to collect data for program evaluation. Evaluates program effectiveness, and identifies and recruits additional program resources. Develops processes, recruiting strategies, and training program for student workers and volunteers. Creates and maintains positive working relationships with school personnel and with Rutgers faculty, staff, and students engaging in collaborative work with the schools. Develops and facilitates summer programs for school-age children. Performs related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of coordination, organization, facilitation, report analysis, writing, and promotion/outreach. Also requires a minimum of two years relevant experience in a program coordination or administration. Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. Prior experience in K-12 education; fluency in Spanish; knowledge of Camden community; and master’s degree are preferred.
