City Council Hearing on Online Grooming & Youth Safety – Apr 24

Councilmember-at-Large Dr. Nina Ahmad recently introduced Resolution No. 260150 to examine the role of social and gaming platforms in online grooming of youth. As technology continues to evolve and children spend more time online, it’s critical that we better understand these risks and strengthen protections for young people.
Councilmember Ahmad is inviting parents, caregivers, educators, youth-serving professionals, and community members to speak during public comment at the upcoming City Council hearing:
Philadelphia City Council Committees on Public Health and Human Services and Children and Youth Hearing
Date/Time: Friday, April 24, 2026 at 10 AM
Location: City Hall, Room 400 (1400 John F. Kennedy Blvd)
Resolution: 260150
The hearing will explore the current landscape of online grooming in Philadelphia, how it impacts young people and families, and what more can be done to prevent harm and hold platforms accountable.
Participants may consider speaking to:
- Experiences or concerns related to youth online safety
- Awareness of risks on social and gaming platforms
- Gaps in resources, education, or protections for families and students
- What support or policy changes would better protect young people
