Grow Your Community: Fairmount/Francisville
Sunday, August 25th, 9am – 12:30pm
Meet on the corner of 19th and Poplar Street*
Have you ever helped an elderly neighbor mow her lawn, or picked up trash that you didn’t litter? Have you ever felt sad that our beautiful city struggles with blight and wondered what you could do to help? Are you a member of your civic association or just a darn good neighbor!? Join us–
First, we do a hands-on project. We’ll clean a Philadelphia Greens lot, helping the neighbors of Francisville neighborhood in Fairmount make the beautiful mosaic sculptures stand out from the weeds!
Afterwards, we break to enjoy some refreshments and hear from members of the Fairmount Civic Association and Una Vee Bruce, “the unofficial Mayor of Francisville.” Participants will share ideas for transforming our neighborhoods and be inspired by energy of these powerful community leaders!
*To sign up, please contact Janice Lion: 215-564-4544 ([email protected]). Or just show up on Sunday! Take the #33 bus North and get off at 20th and Poplar (appx 3 blocks above Fairmount Avenue), then walk one block east to 19th and Poplar. There is plenty of free street parking, if you’re driving. For directions over the weekend, call Janice: 267-456-1001.
