Grow Your Community with Citizen Academy! Saturday August 10, 2002, 9am-1pm
* Meet at Northwest Counseling Services, 5001 N. Broad Street (at Ruscomb)
Have you ever helped an elderly neighbor mow her lawn, or picked up trash that you didn’t litter? Have you ever felt sad that our beautiful city struggles with blight and wondered what you could do to help?
Come to hear from people who’ve pitched in and sparked a community revitalization revolution, and discover ways to become an agent in the urban renewal movement!
First, we meet for a hands-on project. We clean trash, pull weeds, secure abandoned houses, spruce neighborhood spaces up, restoring them to their natural beauty. Then, we will break for lunch and hear from some heroes of urban revitalization: Sonya Bryant, and Michael Heyward, leaders of “Let’s Love Logan. Participants will share ideas for transforming our neighborhoods and be inspired by energy of these powerful community leaders!
*To sign up, please contact Janice Lion: 215-564-4544 ([email protected]) or Sonya Bryant: 215-329-6726.
Citizen Academy is made possible by the generous support of Aetna, The Philadelphia Foundation, and CityCares.
