Mayors’ Coalition Promotes Service and Volunteering
This past month, mayors formed a new coalition to promote volunteering and service.
On Sept. 10, New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg joined 16 mayors in launching Cities of Service, a bipartisan coalition of mayors who are committed to finding new ways to promote service and volunteerism. With support from the Rockefeller Foundation, the coalition will provide technical assistance to member city mayors, including funding full-time Chief Service Officers in select cities to develop and implement comprehensive service programs.
