Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia is proud to solicit applications for a Site Manager of the first Digital Choice Food Program in the Philadelphia area. Located in The Klein Jewish Community Center (JCC) in Northeast Philadelphia, this new pantry model will afford guests the freedom to make their own food choices, provide better nutrition and fulfill the mission of Federation’s Mitzvah Food Project to respect the dignity of those in need.
If you are high energy and creative, have prior social service or non-profit supervisory experience, have worked with community members and have knowledge of local social services and hunger resources please consider this full time position.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Supervise and support on-site part-time staff (social worker, volunteer coordinator, stock associate) to ensure smooth operations
- Maintain food inventory system, weekly food orders, all aspects of deliveries and donations, public communications, the swipe card system, community outreach, recipes, food menus and resource materials provided to customers
- Oversee collection, maintenance and organization of client data to meet reporting requirements
- Manage and evaluate virtual dollar system that allocates precise type and amount of food to clients
- Partner with local agencies to develop and implement nutrition assessments, surveys, as well as engaging materials and food demonstrations to make healthy choices more appealing and accessible
- Monitor and track data to provide monthly reporting as necessary
- Maintain budget, placing food orders, develop grant applications and funding/donation requests as needed and in collaboration with Mitzvah Food Project Manager.
- With others, staff an advisory committee of major donors that meets quarterly
- Lead site visits for donors, perspective donors and other interested parties
Successful candidates will have the following competencies, qualifications and experience:
- Associates or Bachelors degree required
- Social service, non-profit supervisory experience required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with community leaders, Federation staff, volunteers, external vendors and recipients
- Strong leadership, organizational and planning skills.
- 1-2 years’ professional experience working directly with community members and stakeholders
- Demonstrated understanding of diversity and cultural issues
- High energy level, flexibility, strong sense of initiative, customer service and client centered focus
- Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to use sound judgment in order to resolve non-routine problems
- Strong conflict resolution and customer service skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Grocery merchandising and/or general retail experience a plus
- Computer Skills Required: Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
- Knowledge of Kashrut preferred
- Access to reliable transportation
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for long periods of time
