American Academy of Pediatrics Invites Applications for Children’s Community-Based Health Initiatives

The mission of the American Academy of Pediatrics is to advance optimal physical, mental, and social health, and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.

To that end, AAP invites applications for its CATCH Planning, Implementation, and Resident Grants, which will provide grants of up to $10,000 to pediatric residents who plan to build broad-based community partnerships aimed at increasing children’s access to optimal health or well-being. Projects must be new to the community or be a new program under an existing initiative.

Prioritized project activities include those which demonstrate creativity or innovation in the designated community; predominantly serve a population of children with unmet health needs or with demonstrated health disparities; aim to develop strong, broad-based community partnerships; assess children’s health or well-being and/or increase access to needed health services not otherwise available; address an important need; include plans for sustainability beyond the grant period; and are led by a pediatrician who plays a significant role in the project.

Applicants must be a general pediatrician, pediatric medical subspecialist, a pediatric surgical subspecialist, or a fellowship trainee from the United States or one of its territories or Canada. Grant recipients must have a current national or chapter AAP membership before grant funds can be disbursed.
