Childhood Obesity: A National Initiative

Sorority sponsors child obesity program
The Quaker City Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will sponsor a program entitled Childhood Obesity: A National Initiative on Saturday, September 18th from 9am to noon at Audenreid High School, 3301 Tasker Street in South Philadelphia.
The program, which is free and open to the public, will address the health issues that can develop in overweight children, ways that today’s children can become more fit, and how parents can serve as healthy role models.
The keynote speaker is Dr. Seanta Clark, a clinical psychologist. Other presenters include Mr. Mitch Smith who has a television show which promotes children’s health, Mr. Rick Daveson who will define body mass index and Dr. Shirley Huang, medical director of the Healthy Weight Program at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, who will discuss the 5210 program for children.
