Chief Operating Officer, North10
Posted by North 10 Philadelphia on May 17, 2022
Through strong partnerships with a shared vision and mutual accountability, North10, Philadelphia works to improve the life outcomes for community members in Hunting Park-East Tioga by facilitating economic growth, increasing housing options, enhancing learning opportunities, and promoting physical and emotional wellness in order for current residents and future generations to live happy, healthy, and civically engaged lives.
Since 2007, the Lenfest Center has provided youth of the Hunting Park-East Tioga sections of North Philadelphia with a welcoming, safe, and enriching refuge from systemic neighborhood violence, poverty, and a myriad of other trauma-inducing challenges. In 2018, North10, Philadelphia was formed as the parent organization, with the Center as the cornerstone of innovative and inclusive efforts to revitalize this neighborhood. North10’s goal is community development without displacement: to improve the neighborhood with the people of this neighborhood.
JOB DESCRIPTION
North10 is looking for an experienced nonprofit professional to lead the operations, management, real estate, and program registration enrollment functions across the organization. Reporting to the Executive Director, the COO will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team focused on building a high-performing organization that serves as a model nonprofit organization for the City of Philadelphia, region, and the nation. The COO will serve as the executive leadership team’s management/systems process guru, specifically ensuring executive management team processes, organization-wide work processes, and institutional partnership processes are best in class. The COO will serve as a critical partner to the Executive Director to ensure the systems and structures that shape our organization set North10 up for continued success as we grow.
This position represents a compelling opportunity to be part of non-profit that is actively shifting ‘start-up mindset’ to one focused on sustainability and long-term impact through expanding our program reach and significant investments in real estate and community partnerships. We are addressing perhaps the most difficult and important problems facing our country’s urban centers – the systemic disinvestment and subsequent disintegration neighborhoods for communities of color to raise their children with a sense of dignity, pride, and community-togetherness.
