Chief Financial Officer, theVillage

The Chief Financial Officer directs the agency’s financial planning, accounting practices, facilities maintenance and improvements and information systems activities, as well as its relationship with financial institutions, third party payers, and the business community by performing the following duties personally or through delegation to staff. The CFO provides overall financial leadership and is responsible for communicating with CEO and board members on a regular basis.
The CFO will be responsible for:
- Oversees and directs budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, long range forecasting, and insurance activities for the organization.
- Appraises the organization’s financial position and issues periodic reports on the organization’s financial stability, liquidity, and growth.
- Works with auditors to complete the preparation and issuance of the corporation’s annual financial statement.
- Effectively mentors and develops direct and indirect reports.
- Establishes and maintains contacts with financial institutions, third party payers, and others to facilitate the agency’s operation in the general business community.
- Effectively oversees and manages capital spending; and plans for challenges and adversity using financial resources.
- Monitors capital and operational spending on an ongoing basis, reporting variances as identified.
- Oversees planning and implementation of all business information systems, such as client database, payroll, HRIS, and external and internal communications.
The successful candidate for this position will meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance; MBA preferred; CPA a plus
- Minimum of 5 years as the senior level Accountant in a non-profit organization.
- At least 10 years of progressive supervisory experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively under pressure.
- Hands-on, roll-up your sleeves get the job down attitude.
- Flexibility in work schedules (i.e., may require non-traditional working hours)
