Special Olympics Pennsylvania (SOPA) seeks an enthusiastic and experienced leader to serve as Chief Development Officer (CDO). This position will serve as a member of SOPA’s Senior Leadership Team and will be responsible for building and leading the development team responsible for all statewide fundraising with specific emphasis on corporate giving, foundations and individual donors. Working with the CEO, Board, and Regional Campaign Committees, the CDO will be responsible for successfully executing SOPA’s 3-year, $4MM “Inclusion Revolution” campaign.
In addition to managing the development team, the CDO will be expected to strategically build comprehensive, multi-year partnerships with corporations and other large organizations (foundations, government entities) statewide. The CDO will aggressively develop a pipeline to seek funding from new sources. And, the CDO will support and nurture current partnerships and create opportunities to expand their investment in SOPA. The CDO will develop customized strategies leveraging the Special Olympics brand to help partner companies drive business, grow their brand awareness, build their culture, and make business-to-business connections. The CDO will promote all aspects of a potential relationship including monetary and in-kind support spanning operational, marketing, sponsorship, and employee engagement opportunities.
Critical characteristics for the right candidate include a demonstrated ability to successfully meet organizational goals, consistently and positively represent the organization (internally/externally), and think and act both strategically and tactically. The candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate clear, concise and coherent writing and verbal skills. We are looking for someone with major gifts fundraising experience, a strong track record of revenue generation and a background demonstrating supervisory, strategic, management and leadership skills.
Considerable statewide travel is necessary on an on-going basis.
