Duties include:

• Outreach: recruiting new organizations and individuals into the Chess Challenge and facilitating trainings for new chess club leaders
• Mentor Program: recruiting, placing, and managing 10-15 high school “chess mentors” as they provide instruction and inspiration to students at existing middle and elementary clubs
• Tracking the college application progress of chess-playing high school seniors for chess scholarship recognition
• Maintaining relationships with partner organizations such as the Philadelphia School District, afterschool programming providers, the Free Library, etc.
• Organizing and operating regular events and tournaments for up to 250 students
• Collecting data about chess events, student progress, and chess clubs
• Assisting ASAP’s Director of Chess Programs with operating the Chess League, etc.

Qualifications include the following: a college degree, ability to multi-task, a detail-oriented approach, strong writing skills, and an outgoing personality. Applicants should be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Knowledge of chess is preferred. The job requires a flexible schedule—some evenings and weekends are involved.
