Challenge Grants Available to Build Community Skateparks
Deadline: January 15, 2004
The American Eagle Outfitters Foundation (http://www.ae.com/corp/foundation.htm), a giving program of American Eagle Outfitters retailer, and ESKAL8, the national skatepark program powered by KaBOOM!, are offering a new national challenge grant program for organizations that want to build skateparks in their communities.
The ESKAL8-AE Foundation Skatepark Challenge Grants program will offer four $8,000 grants to community organizations across the United States that are undertaking their own skatepark building project. Each recipient will also receive an additional $1,475 to purchase skateboards, helmets, safety gear, and permanent safety signage for the site.
The program is for communities that wish to build skateparks utilizing the community build model. All projects, whether for modular or concrete skateparks, must engage the community in the planning, organizing, and building of the park.
Each grant recipient must be able to demonstrate the economic need of the community, demonstrate the ability to meet fundraising requirements necessary for successful project completion, secure the commitment of the community to the project, have a concrete plan for maintaining the skatepark, and register the project in the ESKAL8 online planner.
Further information is available at the KABOOM! Web site.
