Challah for Hunger: Program Associate, Full-Time

Challah for Hunger builds communities inspired and equipped to take action against hunger. Established at Scripps College in 2004, the network has grown to over 85 chapters in four countries, baking thousands of loaves per year and donating over 1.5 million dollars to hunger relief nonprofits. In addition to supporting over 85 chapters, Challah for Hunger supports an ever-expanding alumni network, a growing family chapter program, and partners with national and local organizations to address hunger relief issues.

We seek an energetic, relationship-oriented, entry-level professional to support chapter operations. Reporting to the Director of Programs, the Program Associate will be responsible for overseeing the entire chapter support program and building a strong network of dedicated and responsible chapter leaders. He/she/they will work directly with approximately 100-150 current and emerging student and family chapter leaders during the academic year, communicating and trouble-shooting on a daily basis to ensure chapter success. This includes managing the chapter start-up training.

This job creates the opportunity to work directly with students and families and to travel, requiring the corresponding flexibility, enthusiasm and time-management skills. Occasional evening and weekend hours are required. Expected start date is mid-July 2019.

Responsibilities

Campus Chapter Support

  • Provides ongoing support and coaching to current and new chapter leaders
  • Develops, monitors, and tracks chapter communications in Salesforce
  • Maintains, updates, and develops chapter resources (through a digital resource center)
  • Meets regularly with the Director of Programs to assess chapter progress and recommend policies or procedures for improvement
  • Manages online banking reporting system and bi-annual chapter donation process
  • Travels to visit chapters during the academic year

Family Chapter Support

  • Provides ongoing support and coaching to current and new chapter leaders
  • Develops, monitors, and tracks chapter communications in Salesforce
  • Maintains, updates, and develops chapter resources (through a digital resource center)
  • Manages online banking reporting system and bi-annual chapter donation process

Administrative and Organizational Support

  • Manages internal knowledge systems (digital resource center, Salesforce, Mailchimp)
  • Participates in planning Challah for Hunger gatherings, including Leadership Summits

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience
  • Detail oriented and highly organized
  • Demonstrated leadership and responsibility for volunteers
  • Creative problem solver and problem anticipator
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Challah for Hunger experience a plus
  • Interest in food-insecurity, nonprofit management and community building
