Certification Assistant, Women’s Business Enterprise Council

The Women’s Business Enterprise Council (WBEC; http://www.wbecouncil.org/) is part of a national network of organizations dedicated to opening the doors of opportunity for women’s business enterprises (WBEs). We provide educational opportunities and diverse programming that foster WBE growth and provide WBEs with increased access to corporate and government contracting opportunities.

The Certification Assistant plays a critical role in WBEC’s core business: certification of women-owned businesses. The Certification Assistant provides overall administrative, logistical and program support to the Certification team, including Coordinators, Manager and President. S/he also provides basic support to WBEs and corporate members when appropriate.

Role and Responsibilities
    Organizing WBE applications: In addition to ensuring that all certification application files are complete and comply with national standards, you will prepare certification applications for an audit by the Certification Coordinator and, ultimately, for review by the Certification Committee (comprised of corporate members and WBEs).
    Certification Committee Meetings: You will be responsible for most pre- and post-Certification Committee support, including inviting members, tracking RSVPs, all meeting logistics, WBE database management and providing support to committee members.
    Interaction with WBEs and Corporate Members: You will provide WBEs with basic assistance as they go through the certification process; you will also assist corporate representatives conduct database searches for qualified WBEs, as well as track corporate sponsorships and donations.
    Programs and Events: You will provide administrative, logistical and on-site support for all of our educational and networking programs and events.

Qualifications
A year of office-related experience is required (this includes experience you may have gained while in college, through an internship, etc.), as is exceptional skills in all of the following areas: organization, interpersonal communication, customer service, multi-tasking, adaptability and attention to detail. A strong work ethic is essential.
