Center for Black Educator Development’s Cultural Competencies e-Learning Pilot

Posted by The Center for Black Educator Development on March 15, 2022

The Center for Black Educator Development (CBED) is excited to introduce our Digital Learning Series. The pilot version of our eLearning work is supported by three leading educational foundations: William Penn Foundation, Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropies, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The pilot consists of three online modules which are grounded in cultural competencies – with more being developed! Our eLearning work is led by Victoria McCall who has been working directly with professors from around the country to integrate our content into their respective coursework.

So far, our content has been integrated into junior level Science Methods courses, Language and Culture courses, etc. The pilot will continue to partner with universities in spring ’22, summer ’22, and fall ’23. It is important to note that we tailor to the needs of the professor and students to ensure this experience is as aligned and impactful as possible.

Ultimately, the goal of our research and development with this project is to create digital material that follows the mission of CBED which is to ensure that the most talented, diverse educators enter schools—emphasizing culturally proficient competencies and racially, educationally just pedagogical frameworks.

Our one-pager briefly details the currently free e-learning pilot modules package. Additionally, here is the link to a sample of our Module 1: Reflecting on One’s Cultural Identity for your review.

We would love to keep this conversation going about a potential partnership with your university. If you are interested in discussing this opportunity further, please click this link to schedule a time to talk with our eLearning associate, Victoria McCall.
