The newest in a series of University of Washington-community partnerships case studies is now available. This one focuses on the remarkable work of faculty and students of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
Case studies examine the motivation, history of development, and impact of UW-community partnerships. They have sought to bring to light the ways in which UW-community partnerships are an expression of the core research and education missions of the University and to understand the benefits these partnerships bring to communities and to the UW.
Case studies from the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Landscape Architecture were completed in 2003. A case study on the Department of Scandinavian Studies is in publication and became available in November 2004. They are currently working on two additional case studies: the first focusing on the extensive partnership activities across disciplines with communities in Yakima Valley, and the second on the rich and multi-faceted history of work between the Seattle Art Museum and numerous UW departments. Both will be available in spring 2005.
