Can’t Wait List: Stories of the Affordable Housing Crisis
Posted by on March 24, 2014
CAN’T WAIT LIST Website Aims to Collect Thousands of Stories Brought On By The Affordable Housing Crisis
The Cantwaitlist.org is a webspace and storybank that will document the lives of countless individuals and families that are waiting for affordable housing nationwide.
The types of stories you will encounter on the Can’t Wait List include city residents dealing with the rising costs of rent, mothers living in shelters while trying to find a job with a decent wage, families who are currently on waiting lists for public housing, and seniors anticipating foreclosure. There will also be some stories of resilience and success. There are residents in this country, who are not waiting, and living in truly affordable housing. These residents and communities were able to create and maintain their own properties through building community land trusts, fighting for local policies that sustained stable, and affordable housing and urban homesteading projects.
