Candle Foundation Accepting Proposals for 2003
Deadline: May 1, 2003
The Candle Foundation, a philanthropy supported by the Candle Corporation (http://www.candle.com/), an independent software and services company, is now accepting proposals for the 2003 funding cycle. The foundation seeks to fund innovative, high-impact, low-overhead projects for which beneficiaries are chosen on a non-religious, non-political, and non-ethnic basis.
Grants ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 will be awarded in five categories: community investment; education and information dissemination; hunger and homelessness; medical research; and preventive health services. The foundation seeks to fund organizations that will apply the grant directly to a specific project. Essential overhead expenses should be funded by other resources.
The foundation supports grantseekers throughout North America, with some preference given to areas in which Candle has offices or operations. The foundation will consider any qualified charitable organization with 501(c)(3) status, with the following exceptions: private foundations; organizations with religious, political, or ethnic purposes; publications or conferences; and individuals.
For complete funding guidelines, an application form, and a list of projects recently funded by the foundation, visit the Candle Web site.
