Campus Vote Project
Posted by on March 12, 2012
I am a staff attorney at the Fair Elections Legal Network (FELN) and the organization’s coordinator for Campus Vote Project (CVP). FELN is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing barriers to voting for traditionally underrepresented constituencies, including students, minority communities, disabled Americans, and low income voters.

Campus Vote Project is an FELN campaign to help college students, campus administrators, and election officials increase student participation in elections. We are working on the project with higher education groups such as the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, the National Association For Equal Opportunity in Higher Education, the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, and others. Our CVP launch was recently featured in The Chronicle of Higher Education.
I am trying to connect with service learning coordinators and other administrators who are interested in implementing service learning projects that relate to making college campuses more voter-friendly. In addition, we would love to share your success stories on the “best practices” section of the CVP website and invite you to contribute to our blog to describe efforts on your campus
FELN has developed a set of best practices, which we describe in the CVP toolkit, to make college campuses more voter-friendly and reduce barriers to voting that disproportionately affect students. A few of these projects include providing students with a voter ID, establishing a student poll worker program, and getting students transportation to the polls. FELN will work with campus partners who are interested in implementing a CVP project by providing research assistance, technical advice, training, webinars, conference calls, communications collaboration, and other assistance partners request during the organizing process.

Please contact me by email or at 202-331-0114 if you would like CVP to spotlight your work to increase student voting on campus or if you would like more information about the project.
Take care,
Dan
