Campus Organizer, Idealist on Campus

The Campus Organizer will join the Idealist on Campus program of Action Without Borders, which takes our broad mission – to connect people, organizations, and resources to build a better world ? to the campus level.

The Campus Organizer will work with two other Campus Organizers (and possibly interns and volunteers) to develop Idealist Alliances, new campus-based coalitions of students, campus staff, faculty and community members that support and promote service, activism, and socially responsible work. Through email, telephone, and in-person outreach, the Campus Organizer will work closely with students and other campus staff and administrators. The Campus Organizer will also be responsible for developing resources to support Idealist Alliances and other campus-based programs.

The Campus Organizer will work out of the AWB Philadelphia Office.

Roles and responsibilities include:

– Outreach and communication via email, telephone, and in person
– Build and maintain relationships with campus staff and administrators (e.g., in offices of community service and career services) in order to maintain participation in Idealist?s network and programs
– Train students and campus staff on issues of service, activism and socially responsible careers
– Coach and provide technical assistance for Idealist Alliances
– Maintain information in databases, spreadsheets, and other formats
– Work independently and with a team of Campus Organizers and other staff
– Coordinate national and regional conferences and events
– Present workshops at national and regional conferences and events
– Develop written and curricular resources
– Develop and maintain relationships with campus liaisons, including students and staff
– Design and manage new programs, including developing outreach, training, support, and management strategies for this new organizational initiative
– Manage interns and volunteers

Additional Qualifications:
The Campus Organizer will possess a range of qualities including:

– Leadership experience, particularly at the campus (higher education) level and/or within the nonprofit field
– Strong communication skills, including written, oral, and in person
– Knowledge of and experience working with campus-based community service, service-learning, activism and/or promotion of socially responsible careers
– Experience in training, coaching and/or management and a willingness to learn and grow in these areas
– Ability to work independently and with a team
– Self-starter and entrepreneurial approach, with a zest for building initiatives
– Enthusiasm for student and youth leadership and the role of higher educational institutions in educating active and informed graduates
– Positive attitude, flexibility and interest in launching new initiatives
– Attention to detail, including willingness to organize and maintain information about complex networks
– Sense of humor
– Bachelors degree or equivalent preferred
