Democracy Matters Institute Paid Internships in “Organizing for Reform”

The Democracy Matters Institute (DM) is a non-partisan, non-profit student organization offering a paid internship in “Organizing for Reform” to an undergraduate student on your campus beginning next fall for the academic year 2015-16. Please help us to get the word out to your students to apply for this unique competitive internship. Please go to http://hosted.verticalresponse.com/210491/dbf483b861/1556658255/1f5ecdea6b/ for information to inform your faculty and students about this opportunity.

Since 2001, DM has worked with undergraduate interns on over 600 college campuses throughout the United States. Student interns organize and start a DM chapter on their own campuses to educate themselves and other students about campaign finance reform, voting, and other issues of citizenship in a democracy. Our goal is to open up the political process to more citizens and to ensure that legislators spend their time solving our nation’s problems rather than raising money for their campaigns. Our founder and President is Adonal Foyle, a retired NBA player, who believes that students should have more of a voice in our democracy.

Ours is an excellent program that gives student interns a year of intense training and mentorship by our professional staff as they work to promote outreach and activities on their campus that deepen democracy. Students are also given the opportunity to attend national conferences and to meet peers from other campuses. The program is ideal for a rising sophomore or junior who is interested in politics, social change and/or political reform. The internship can also be coordinated with your school’s practicum or internship programs, so please forward this information to those offices as well.

To apply, students may send a resume and cover letter to [email protected]. To learn more or to contact The Democracy Matters Institute go to http://www.democracymatters.org.
