Organizational Overview
The Younger Women’s Task Force, a project of the National Council of Women’s Organizations, is a nationwide, diverse and inclusive grassroots movement dedicated to organizing younger women and their allies to take action on issues that matter most to them. By and for younger women, YWTF works both within and beyond the women’s movement, engaging all who are invested in advancing the rights of younger women. The Philadelphia Chapter of the Younger Women’s Task Force has been active for almost a year and has a membership of close to 150 young women from the center city and suburbs of Philadelphia and South Jersey. Our chapter has held various events that include a Financial Seminar educating younger women to be financially independent and a seminar teaching our membership on the current policy issues that are affecting women.
Training Description
The YWTF Philadelphia Chapter is hosting a “Women in Leadership” training on Saturday, September 16, 2006 at Community College of Philadelphia, 1700 Spring Garden Street. It is being coordinated and run by the newly formed Women & Politics Committee of our chapter in collaboration with the Community College of Philadelphia Women’s Center. The training will be a half-day training event designed to offer women the tools they will need in taking the leap into leadership, whether it be in the political arena, union league, or PTA Board. The training tracks will be broad enough to speak to all attendees and our handouts will offer more resources for our attendees to get specific information regarding their personal goals and interests.
