2011-12 Paper Call
on
“The State of Higher Education in Pennsylvania and Beyond”

Increasing budget cuts and a decreasing commitment by the state government to the delivery and access to higher education for all residents of the Commonwealth have resulted in stressful times for colleges and universities.  The 2012 presidential election will be crucial element in securing the future of the next generation.

Therefore the PBCOHE Journal will devote its 2012 issue to “The State of Higher Education in Pennsylvania and Beyond” in an attempt to identify the issues and offer plausible solutions.  Scholarly research and commentaries are solicited, but not limited to, the following topics in higher education:
    the impact on financial cutbacks,
    the rise in debt for college graduates,
    access to a college education by the working class and under-represented populations,
    campus climate,
    for-profit institutions and their impact on the system,
    economic  shortfalls and their impact on higher education,
    rising costs of higher education,
    larger classes and shrinking teaching faculty,
    changing curriculum needs  and shrinking budgets,
    the push for technology,
    and more.

Please submit your completed paper to Sharon Stringer, sstringe@lhup.edu for a blind review by the November 1, 2011.   More information about the journal is available at http://www.pbcohe.org

The journal is scheduled for spring 2012 publication.
