Call for Conference Proposals
“Pushing the Boundaries of Collaboration in Higher Education”
October 12-14, 2011 The Doubletree Hotel, Claremont, California
There is a significant call for wide-spread change in higher education today ranging from implementing new technologies, to expanding post-secondary education to larger portions of the population, to cutting the cost for delivery. For many colleges who are members of consortia there is renewed interest in finding ways to work together. For leaders of consortia, this is a new opportunity to envision collaboration which enables our colleges to excel as they meet the challenges of the times.
The goal of this conference is three fold: first, to provide a forum for discussion among practitioners; second, to offer tools for improving the management of our organizations; third, to consider the future of collaboration within and between our organizations.
We welcome conference proposals from all members of ACL. Proposals should be no more than 3 paragraphs; DUE on or before January 7, 2011. Please send all proposals directly to Nicola Beltz at [email protected]
Leading a Consortium: (75 and 90 Minute Sessions) — Panel Discussions, Program Descriptions, or Outside Speakers addressing topics related to effective leadership and management of consortia. Suggested topics include Communication Tools, Budgeting Processes, Motivating Staff, Branding Your Consortia, Strategic Planning, Collaboration Among Consortia, New Areas for Collaboration. Panel moderators will plan the agenda, moderate the panel and secure two or three panel members. Program Descriptions should describe practices or programs already implemented in your consortia. Program Description presenters should be responsible for managing the program they are describing. Those proposing an outside speaker should describe the speaker’s area of expertise and the context in which they work with the speaker. They will be responsible for contacting the speaker and confirming their availability and willingness to present.
Case Studies: One conference session will include case studies providing members the opportunity to have a challenge addressed by fellow members. We are looking for case studies from the membership. For the purposes of the proposal selection process please submit a one-paragraph synopsis of the case study problem you are proposing for this session.
Sponsors: ACL welcomes sponsors for the conference. Sponsorship opportunities include breakfast, lunch, or cocktail reception and all include the opportunity to present their product or program to the membership.
Sponsorship levels are:
