Call for Proposals: PA Black Conference on Higher Education – Mar 13

Posted by Pennsylvania Black Conference on Higher Education on March 8, 2022

The Pennsylvania Black Conference on Higher Education (PBCOHE) was founded in 1970 by the late Honorable K. Leroy Irvis (Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives) with the mission to ensure that underrepresented minorities in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania would have access to a quality education. Though the focus remains consistent, different sub-themes and issues continue to be brought forth.

The annual conference theme for 2022, “#R.E.A.C.H.: Race, Economics, Academia, COVID-19, and
Health: Examining the Impact of Racism on Leaders invites us to consider how racism impacts leaders within our student body, on our campus, and across our communities. Over the past two years, there have drastic changes in communities of color have been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, and we must name and address them if we have any chance of developing sustainable solutions in the return to a new normal.

This year, we invite you to submit workshop proposals that examine or address the impact of race on one or more of the other four areas (economics, academia, COVID-19, and health) through the lenses of policy, practice, pedagogy, and/or research.

Please submit this completed Presentation Proposal form and a copy of each presenter’s brief CV or
resume via email to rjb54@psu.edu by March 13, 2022. If proposals are accepted, presenters are required for register for the annual conference, which includes a one-year membership to PBCOHE. All proposals can also be submitted to the PBCOHE Journal for consideration of inclusion.
