Call for Proposals: National Service-Learning Conference

Posted by on September 17, 2010

Are you ready to bring high-quality service-learning to your classroom or program, engage students who are disengaged, bridge the gap between community and school, strengthen the “L” in service-learning through professional development, and cement service-learning in mainstream education?

The Time is NOW! to join friends and colleagues from around the world at the 22nd Annual National Service-Learning Conference in Atlanta, Ga., April 6-9, 2011. Online registration is open to the largest gathering of youth and practitioners involved in service-learning, drawing approximately 2,200 attendees from across the United States and many other countries. Through three days of general sessions, thought-leader series, service-learning projects, and networking, the conference engages participants in the local, national, and global issues that service-learning addresses. Come explore more than 100 exhibits, and nearly 150 hands-on workshops and service-learning projects.

The 2011 conference will feature speeches by Maurice “Mo” Green, superintendent of Guilford County Schools; Greg Mortenson, co-founder of the nonprofit Central Asia Institute, Pennies For Peace, and co-author of New York Times bestseller Three Cups of Tea; Parth Shah, founder of Kiva High School; and Naomi Tutu, daughter of South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu, associate director of the Office of International Programs at Tennessee State University, founder of the Tutu Foundation, and author of Words of Desmond Tutu and I Don’t Think of You as Black: Honest Conversations on Race.
