Call for Proposals: Afterschool Summer Institute
Posted by on February 17, 2006
As you probably know, The U.S. Department of Education and the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, in conjunction with the National Partnership for Quality Afterschool Learning at SEDL announced that the 21st Century Community Learning Center 2006 Afterschool Summer Institute will be held in San Diego, California July 10-12, 2006.
The National Partnership for Quality Afterschool Learning is again assisting the Department of Education in planning for this year’s institute. We invite you and others in your program/organization to submit a proposal for one of the concurrent sessions for consideration. The Institute will feature presentations that provide high-quality learning opportunities for after-school practitioners in the academic content areas, complemented by sessions that promote the development of a vision, getting results, strategic financing, building organizational and community support, and strategic planning.
We consider research, staff development, evaluation and sustainability as cross cutting issues within the various strands and would recommend that when proposing a presentation that you address one or more of the cross cutting issues. The focus of these presentations should be to help programs design and implement exciting and engaging activities that will promote regular participation and student development. You may propose a 60 or 90 minute session.

We look forward to receiving your proposals.
