Call for Proposals, 16th Annual Continuums of Service Conference

The Call for Proposals for the 16th Annual Continuums of Service Conference, April 24-26, 2013 is now open!

The Annual Continuums of Service Conference, established in 1998, invites civic engagement and service-learning practitioners from higher education and their campus and community partners to convene and discuss strategies to implement our shared leadership and responsibility to strengthen communities across the region and advance the civic mission of higher education. Your participation helps build and strengthen the service-learning and civic engagement network in the western region.

Specifically, the Annual Continuums of Service Conference seeks to:

Provide a warm, welcoming, and intellectually stimulating conference experience for service-learning and civic engagement professionals at all levels of experience, from novice to advanced.
Provide opportunities for administrators, faculty, and their campus and community partners to share, discuss, learn about and advance civic engagement and civic learning knowledge, best practices and research.
Showcase and promote innovative and cutting edge civic engagement programs, research, and initiatives from throughout the western region.
Create a strong western region network of practitioners to build and strengthen connections and collaboration among civic engagement and service-learning colleagues.

The 16th Annual Continuums of Service Conference “The Engaged Campus: Higher Education for the Public Good”  will explore the historic mission of higher education to provide a quality education for the public good – assuring students’ civic development, workforce training and educational success.

The 16th Annual Continuums of Service Conference will showcase higher education’s best and most promising practices for:

Generative Campus-Community Collaboration: Collective Impact for the Public Good
Applied Scholarship: Community-Based Teaching, Research, and Assessment
Student Development: Civic Learning and Educational Success
Engaged Campus: Civic-Minded Culture and Initiatives

The Continuums of Service Conference has a long-standing history of invigorating participants to explore issues from diverse perspectives. The 2013 Continuums of Service Conference promises to creatively examine how higher education and its partners maximize collective local and global impact and develop students into successful and effective leaders who advance the public good.

We invite you to join us in Portland, Oregon on April 24-26, 2013 to showcase and share your knowledge, skills, and ideas, and to network with colleagues from across the western region.
