Call for Presentations
Send your Presentation Proposal to NCEA by web, fax, or email.
Proposal Deadline: June 1, 2005
We seek presentations that will help us support the participation of all cultures in our communities and schools. We also welcome presentations on approaches to community education that are working in other countries that can help practitioners see how they can apply those experiences in their own communities. We also would like to distinguish, when appropriate, between urban, suburban and rural and beginning and intermediate levels.

Community Education – Programs, Partnerships and Process
Community Education is a way for people to enhance their lives and communities through learning and collaboration. It is a concept that provides opportunities for state and local community members, schools, and other organizations to become partners in addressing educational and community concerns. We seek presentations that range from the practical how-tos of developing community education programs and partnerships, including community schools, to discussions on research, theoretical models, and state and federal policy, such as choice, home schooling, demographics, etc.

Building on a Foundation of Diversity
In this area, we are looking for examples of Community Education’s role in bringing together the many elements of a diverse community:
* Assisting New Immigrants to become Members of the Community
* Closing the Achievement Gap
* Creating Unity Among Ethnic Groups in the Community
* Bridging the Generation Gap
* Gender Equity and Woman’s Education
* Building Social Capital
* Reducing Poverty and Unemployment
* Building Resilient Communities
