Call for Presenters: Chesapeake Urban Farming Summit
Posted by on April 12, 2010
A group us in the Baltimore / DC area are organizing Sowing Seeds Here and Now! A Chesapeake Urban Farming Summit on June 18th, and we’re looking for presenters for exciting, engaging, and educational workshops that will help our audience identify and break down the barriers of urban agriculture in our region. The summit will have 300 people in attendance, and feature Will Allen as our keynote speaker (along with some high ups at the USDA).
We’re actively looking for people to travel to our area to teach us about their struggles and successes when developing entrepreneurial urban farming projects in your communities. This is not an intellectual or theory based conference. Rather, we’re looking for people on the ground with creative solutions to the complex problems of urban farming.
I’m asking of four things of you:
1) Goto our website, http://sowingseedshereandnow.com and on the right side of the first page is a little blurb and a link for presentation proposals. Go there, check it out.
2) Consider being a presenter, and fill out that form yourselves.
3) Think for a second about the best presenters that you’ve experienced. Let us know their names and contact information, we’ll gladly reach out to them to ask them if they want to present.
4) Send our link to your friends, colleagues, list serves, and blogs. We’re trying to cast as wide of a net as possible.
We have (limited) funding to cover travel costs, we’re gonna pay for people to fly / train / bus it to our area, and cover all travel costs.
Any questions? Send me an email at [email protected].
