Call for Presentations: International Service-Learning Research Conference

Portland State University is pleased to invite you to the 6th International Service-Learning Research Conference, to be held in Portland, Oregon, October 14-16, 2006. The theme for this year’s conference is “From Passion to Objectivity: International and Cross-disciplinary Perspectives on Service-Learning Research.”

At this year’s conference we want to continue to showcase current exemplary research on service-learning and engaged scholarship, and also want to encourage greater involvement from scholars from around the globe, as well as scholars from a variety of disciplines who can contribute a variety of disciplinary frameworks and perspectives.

The overarching goal of the Conference is to convene researchers interested in service-learning and engagement from throughout the world to share research findings, build networks and partnerships, and identify new directions for service-learning research. Specific conference goals are to:
– Showcase current and completed research
– Identify and highlight new and emerging scholars
– Stimulate cross-national dialogue and development of international collaborations
– Facilitate development of research agendas by discipline and by topic
– Encourage visionary and future research
– Network, learn together, and have fun!

We invite submissions in a variety of formats, including Emerging Scholars, Research Agenda-Setting sessions, Global Focus, Cross-national Showcases, Master Classes, Disciplinary/Multidisciplinary Perspectives, and other Topical Presentations. Presentation submissions are due March 8th, 2006. Each submission will be reviewed by at least two scholars in the field. Selected presenters will be notified by April 15, and a preliminary program will be announced by May 1. Conference registration will open in May.
