CALL FOR PAPERS
SISTERS DEFINING SISTERS
Redefining our Issues ~ Affecting Change

MARCH 5 & 6, 2004

In an effort to identify and critically examine issues relevant to African Diasporan women, the graduate students of Temple University?s Department of African American Studies are initiating an annual conference in observance of Women?s Herstory Month. Toward this end, we have entitled the conference: ?Sisters Defining Sisters: Redefining our Issues ~ Affecting Change.? The conference will not only create an opportunity for raising critical consciousness and authentic dialogue between members of the academy and members of the community, but a networking forum for the African community to collaborate in challenging, deconstructing and reconstructing the discourse surrounding African Diasporan women. It is also our goal to involve groups and individuals from both the local and university community as both participants and audience for the conference. Students, both undergraduate and graduate, faculty, staff, alumni, community organizations, community activists, and all those interested are encouraged to participate.
