The Service-Learning and Experiential Education SIG of the American Educational Research Association is pleased to announce a Call for Chapters & Reviewers for the 2014 volume in the series Advances in Service-Learning Research

This book series gathers current research on service-learning in K-12 education, teacher education, and higher education. Along with chapters highlighting the findings of service-learning research studies, the book may include thought pieces that identify theoretical groundings of service-learning and present methodological approaches for studying service-learning (including teacher action research). The 2014 volume’s working title is:  Service-Learning Pedagogy: How Does It Measure Up?   — Edited by Virginia M. Jagla, Andrew Furco & Jean R. Strait

We are seeking submissions which demonstrate meaningful evidence through rigorous methodology.  Thoughtful analyses of mixed methods investigations are encouraged.  We welcome quality quantitative and qualitative inquiries as well as thought provoking conceptual frameworks.  Significant multi-site studies and meta-analyses are welcome. We are looking for deep critical thinking and analysis in all submissions. We seek to answer the question “What is high quality service-learning pedagogy?”

Submission Guidelines: Manuscripts should be single spaced, Times New Roman 12 point, 15-30 pages, including references, and must follow APA Guidelines (6th edition).  A separate cover page will include the author’s name, professional title, institutional affiliation, and all contact information (phone, fax, mailing address, email). Do not insert headers or footers into the manuscript. Number pages in the upper right hand corner. Tables and figures must be placed at the rear of the manuscript with notations where they should be placed in the body of the manuscript. Manuscripts must be submitted electronically as Word documents to Virginia vjagla@nl.edu.

Deadlines: Intent to submit a manuscript, including a working title and 100-150 word abstract, should be sent to Virginia Jagla vjagla@nl.edu by July 15, 2013. Complete manuscripts are due by September 1, 2013. All manuscripts will be submitted to the volume’s editorial review board and undergo blind review.
