Asian Arts Initiative’s 2016 Summer Youth Arts Workshop

Overview:
Asian Arts Initiative is seeking experienced visual and/or performing artists to join our Youth Arts Workshop (YAW) Summer Program staff team. Teaching artists will work with approximately 30 youth in grades 6, 7, and 8 at our home location in Chinatown North – 1219 Vine Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107. The program will operate Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from July 5th to August 12th. We are looking to hire lead teaching artists to work full-time (approx. 30-35 hours/week) with additional training and planning meetings prior to program start date.

About this summer:
Students will be exploring multi-disciplinary art techniques to define what health for their mind, body, and soul looks like visually and/or physically. Teaching artists will work collaboratively in constructing a curriculum that will allow our students of various skill levels to create/perform the theme of health to present at the end of the summer.

Requirements:
• Previous teaching experience working with youth
• A state and federal criminal record check and PA Child Abuse Clearance must be provided within 30 days of hire

3. Work Samples: Submit up to 20 images and/or to 10 minutes of video footage, with written description of the work and the context in which it was created and/or seen. Media can be sent online or mailed to Asian Arts Initiative.
