Call for Articles: Global Service-Learning
Posted by on January 06, 2014
The Fall 2014 issue of the Michigan Journal of Community Service Learning (MJCSL) will feature a special section on global service-learning guest co-edited by Richard Kiely, Cornell University and Eric Hartman, Providence College. Please consider submitting an article to this special section of the MJCSL.
Global service-learning is a community-driven service experience that employs structured, critically reflective practice to better understand common human dignity; self; culture; positionality; socio-economic, political, and environmental issues; power relations; and social responsibility, all in global contexts. The editors welcome submissions of articles and reflective essays focusing on innovations in pedagogy, theory, research, practice, institutional models, and campus-community partnerships in global service-learning.
The first step in the submission process is to send Richard Kiely (engagedcornell@cornell.edu) an abstract by January 15th, preferably no more than a page in length. Please submit a description that adequately conveys the focus/plan for the article, along with your email address.
Invitations to submit an article will be made by email no later than early February, with invited articles due April 15.
The MJCSL is a national, peer-reviewed journal with faculty and administrator subscribers and readers all over the world, and publishes articles on:
– research, theory, pedagogy, and other issues pertinent to curriculum-based service-learning,
– campus-community partnerships,
– scholarship of engagement, and
– scholarship on engagement.
Please consult submission guidelines for more information (http://ginsberg.umich.edu/mjcsl/) and to review articles from past issues.
If you have any questions after reviewing the submission guidelines, please email Richard Kiely at (engagedcornell@cornell.edu)
And please consider subscribing to the Michigan Journal. The cost is only $29.00. Doing so will contribute to sustaining the Michigan Journal.
Thank you.
