Call Center Volunteers Needed To Help With Hurricane Gustav Clients:
The Red Cross is still looking for volunteers who are compassionate and professional and able to deal with people in stressful situations. This work requires volunteers to be computer and phone proficient. There will be a brief training before your shift if this is your first time volunteering for the Call Center.
Below are the call center shifts:
Tuesday, September 30th
9:00 am- 1:00 pm
1:00 pm- 5:00 pm
5:00 pm- 9:00 pm
As most of you know, the Southern region of the United States has been seriously affected by Hurricanes in the last few weeks. As a result, many people are calling the American Red Cross to try to get much needed assistance. The Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter has opened up our emergency call center to assist with these calls.
Because of this great need, we are looking for more volunteers to help out in our call center. Volunteers at the Response Center Network provide information, referrals and relief support to individuals and American Red Cross units affected by disasters and community emergencies. We are often the first Red Cross members who clients speak with. The clients call 1-866-GET-INFO and the calls get routed to various member chapters who open their call centers to help victims of disasters. The volunteers obtain information in a web-based database which is reviewed by a supervisor and forwarded to the disaster relief operation for follow up if necessary.
If you are interested and able to help out in this capacity, we would really welcome your help. All volunteers are required to fill out an application and complete the online background check. Please contact the Red Cross to obtain the application and instructions.
Please contact Rachel Batsford at [email protected] or 215-299-4036 to let her know that you have completed the background check so it can be processed. Please return applications to Sharon Jefferson by fax to 215-405-8518 or bring the completed and signed application to your first shift.
Please contact Sharon Jefferson at 267-246-4409 or by e-mail at [email protected] with CALL CENTER in the subject line to sign up for a shift or if you have any questions.
Thank you for all your service.
