The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society has been a visionary not-for-profit organization in the Greater Philadelphia Region since its founding in 1827. PHS organizes the annual Philadelphia International Flower Show, the world’s largest and longest-running indoor flower show, which brings 250,000 visitors and creates a $61 million economic impact to the city. PHS’s Philadelphia Green helps transform lives through revolutionary programs like City Harvest, which has grown and donated 77,000 lbs of fresh produce in three years—helping to feed 1,000 families each week of the growing season. PHS will also lead the new Plant One Million, an ambitious program to plant one million trees in the tri-state region of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Business Development Coordinator is responsible for the implementation, cultivation and engagement of portions of the sponsorship program for PHS and alternative revenue opportunities. The successful candidate will be skilled in reviewing potential partners and maintaining relationships to encourage their support of PHS. Critical success factors include achieving sponsorship sales objectives; providing high level support to Business Development team to ensure fulfillment of relationship needs; the development and successful maintenance of key relationships among the PHS staff; the resulting overall satisfaction of PHS management through the achievement of key goals; and the renewal of subsequent agreements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Serves as sales liaison for sponsorship of PHS in the $1,000-10,000 range, including but not limited to preparing presentations; managing, fulfilling and renewing contracts; preparing letters of agreement; and conducting assessments and evaluations with clients.
Prepares customized and targeted sponsorship proposals, cover letters and necessary support materials. Supports Director of Business Development on any new revenue opportunities and key partnerships to achieve annual revenue goals, including but not limited to PLCB.
Reviews opportunities and conducts outreach for in-kind support and partnership of PHS events and programs that will offset expenses, thereby increasing net revenue. Manage implementation, fulfillment and logistics of any in-kind services.
Prepare prospect sheets and research profiles for departmental review and assignment.
Manages implementation of sponsorship activation plans, adhering to all contracted obligations, ensuring a high standard of customer service and providing final reports to Business Development team
Manages follow-up duties including drafting thank you letters, client and sponsor follow-up, evaluation, and reports
Provides administrative support to Business Development team including entering all relevant updates in Raiser’s Edge to ensure effective communication across the departments, drafting correspondence as needed and preparing reports
Serves as a conduit for members of PHS staff and other partners for any new leads.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Passion for PHS mission
Exceptional interpersonal skills both internally and externally
Excellent writing and communication skills
Demonstrated experience in preparing successful sponsorship packages
Strong project management skills
Strong crisis management and negotiating skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software and Windows 10. Raiser’s Edge preferred, but not required
Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field of study; Minimum three years sponsorship or sales experience or equivalent.
