Building Sustainable Programs for Student Engagement

Registration is now open for the 2nd Annual Regional Service-Learning Summit: “Building Sustainable Programs for Student Engagement” that will take place Thursday March 5 and Friday March 6, 2009 in Pewaukee, WI. Come learn about sustainable service-learning methods and find out how students and institutions remain engaged through a series of workshops, round table discussions and a panel focused on transformative learning through service-learning, community engagement, and civic engagement. The keynote speaker is Kevin La Nave, Service-Learning Coordinator at St. Cloud Technical College, St. Cloud, MN. Workshop titles include:
*Lead to Succeed – When You Integrate Service-Learning and Workforce Development Together Everyone Wins
*Social Class and Service-Learning: Engaging Working Class Students
*Developments of K-16 Partnerships
*Doing Charity and Justice: Embracing the “Social Change Wheel”
*Challenges/Successes of Working with Vulnerable Populations
*Service-Learning from the CBO’s Perspective
To request and receive a registration form (with the Summit agenda) please email the Milwaukee Area Technical College Service-Learning Center (service-learning-team@matc.edu). The registration form and fee ($50) is due Friday, February 27, 2009.
