Building Successful Coalitions
Wednesday, May 17, 12 – 2 pm
1199C Union of Hospital and Healthcare Workers
100 S. Broad Street, 10th Floor
Essential to organizing yet difficult to build and maintain, coalitions involve bringing groups with very different perspectives together to achieve a shared goal. Facilitated group discussion and experiential exercises will address issues such as:
– making the decision to form a coalition
– sharing of leadership and responsibility
– establishing rules for participation, and
– honoring differences among coalition members while maintaining the focus on common goals.
About the facilitator:
Steve Honeyman has decades of coalition building experience. He is Executive Director of Eastern Philadelphia Organizing Project, a coalition of more than 30 religious congregations and community organizations.
