Building Partnerships between Urban America and Higher Education
Posted by on September 12, 2003
Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and the NorthEast Neighborhood Alliance (NENA) are hosting a conference entitled “When the Grass Takes Root: Building Partnerships between Urban America and Higher Education.” The conference will explore the multiple dimensions of power and the change imperatives created by university-community partnerships. The conference is targeting people from education, city governments, and community based organizations.
Participants will not find a traditional conference. Instead, issues of power, the will to change, and the dynamics of university-community partnerships will be explored through theater, simulations, community video-tours, interactive workshops, and ample opportunities to dialogue, reflect and network with colleagues.
The conference is scheduled for October 2-5, 2003 at the RIT Inn and Conference Center in Rochester, New York.
