Posted by Penn Urban Food Systems Community of Practice (UFSCoP) on May 26, 2026
Please join us on June 8th from 9 AM – 3 PM for the second Urban Growers Workshop (UGW) to participate in an agriculture build at the West Philly Peace Park (4929 West Girard Avenue, Philadelphia PA 19131). Light breakfast and a full lunch will be provided.
Hosted by the Penn Urban Food Systems Community of Practice (UFSCoP), in collaboration with the West Philly Peace Park, this 2-part workshop welcomes participants to learn hands-on skills through step-by-step instruction, gaining confidence in basic carpentry techniques transferable to their own gardens. No prior build experience needed!
In the morning, part 1 of the workshop will consist of participants helping build new raised beds (including chair accessible raised beds) for West Philly Peace Park. In the afternoon, part 2 of the workshop will consist of participants building a pollinator house to take back to their community gardens. All necessary materials and resources will be provided during the session.
Participants should have access to farms, gardens, and/or other growing spaces that are open to the community. Participants must come dressed in closed-toed shoes and long pants. All necessary materials, tools, and protective equipment will be provided.
