NATIONAL ALTERNATIVE BREAK TRAINING CONFERENCE LOCATIONS ANNOUNCED
Break Away: The Alternative Break Connection, Inc. invites all campuses with established alternative break programs, as well as those aspiring to start quality programs, to attend its tenth annual Alternative Break Citizenship schools (ABCs) this summer. Connect with dozens of leaders nationwide in an intimate, casual training and networking atmosphere packed with inspiring ideas and interactive sessions. Renowned as the definitive leadership training for those involved with service trips of any kind, this is an experience like no other. Service projects, workshops, teambuilding, networking, speaker panels, and reflection sessions are all presented within a dynamic weeklong alternative break environment. Strategies for incorporating the Break Away Eight Quality Components are not only taught during the week, but modeled for participants as well. Participants learn about compelling social issues in addition to alternative break program design. Registration, as low as $400 for member institutions, includes 7 nights of housing, 20 meals, a comprehensive training binder, on-site transportation, a community dinner, and social activities. Locations are as follows:
June 27 – July 4, University of Kansas (Native American Issues)
August 1-8, Florida State University (Hunger and Homelessness Issues)
Download a registration form from the Break Away website at http://www.alternativebreaks.org or contact Break Away at 850/644-0986 or breakaway@alternativebreaks.org for more information. Members of Campus Compact can receive a $25 discount on non-member registration prices.
