Books needed for youth program

Posted by on August 20, 2004

Dear Friends of The Lighthouse:

We are turning to you once again for help. We are in the process of establishing an in-house Reading Center and Lending Library at our Youth Services Center to serve the reading interests of children and young people ages 5-21 who attend our programs. If you have any books that you can donate to our library that you believe that will be of interest to young people in our community please let us know or simply drop them off at any of our two buildings (152 W. Lehigh Avenue or 141 W. Somerset Street). Please label the bag or box with books to the attention of Johnny Irizarry re: Lighthouse Youth Reading Center and Lending Library Project. Make sure to leave your name and mailing address or contact information.

We have textbook type books. We are in great need of story books, teen reading, multi-cultural literature, sports books, arts and music books, biographies, cross word or workbook type educational learning books and any other books that will interest young people to read and refer to for recreation and learning.

Thank you for your support on this important effort. Please forward this request for support to your friends and colleagues to see if you can collect books for this project.

As you may already know we have lost the services of the Book Bank (which is a great lost to this City and region in general!). Getting books from the Book Bank we had established a reading corner in our Lehigh building and it has been very well received and used, so we want to do the same at our Youth services Center on Somerset Street.

We would also be interested in recent copies of teen magazines (decent stuff), sports and educational magazines for the library.

Thanks

Johnny Irizarry
